Automechanika Frankfurt, the world’s leading trade fair for the automotive aftermarket, has announced a strategic partnership with the Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK), marking an important step toward strengthening the branded automotive aftermarket. The collaboration sets the stage for Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, scheduled to take place from 8 to 12 September 2026 in Frankfurt am Main.
The alliance aims to intensify dialogue between automotive manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, and retail groups in the lead-up to the event. Central to this cooperation is a shared objective: to raise the profile of the branded aftermarket and address the most pressing topics shaping the future of the automotive service industry. Through a series of curated formats and industry-focused events, Automechanika and VDIK will jointly communicate key developments and challenges to a global trade audience.
A cornerstone of the partnership is the launch of the “Road to Automechanika” event series. These events will feature prominent speakers, expert panellists, and media representatives, drawing on the extensive know-how of international motor vehicle manufacturers represented by VDIK, along with other industry specialists. The series will explore critical themes such as aftermarket strategies of new market entrants, vehicle data and digitalisation, accident repair management, fleet services of the future, and measures supporting the mobility transition.

VDIK President Imelda Labbé highlighted the significance of the collaboration, noting that the partnership combines the expertise of international automotive brands in aftersales with Automechanika’s global presence as a leading innovation platform. This synergy, she emphasized, creates an ideal environment to present complex industry issues in engaging formats and foster informed discussion among aftermarket professionals.
From Messe Frankfurt’s perspective, the partnership brings strong synergies and shared interests. Michael Johannes, Vice President of Messe Frankfurt and Brand Manager Automechanika, underlined that Automechanika serves as a global platform for innovation across the entire automotive value chain. With industry players worldwide aligning their development and production cycles around the Frankfurt event, the collaboration with VDIK further enhances the fair’s relevance and reach.
In addition, VDIK has introduced sponsored association memberships, allowing organizations to actively support the association’s work while benefiting from closer collaboration with Automechanika. These members gain access to professional dialogue, high-level events, and a powerful industry network, while also increasing their visibility within the automotive sector.
With a presence in 15 cities worldwide, Automechanika is the most successful B2B trade fair brand in the automotive aftermarket. The new alliance with VDIK reinforces its role as a global meeting point for innovation, knowledge exchange, and strategic collaboration—setting a strong foundation for Automechanika Frankfurt 2026 and beyond.
